I just was curious what matchups we could see when UIL reveals the matchups tomorrow.  I have heard UIL determines the matchups by taking the best 2 records and flipping for who those teams will play.  So here is the number of losses each of the teams have.   It looks like Roxton will play Douglass or Texline.  And Douglass would play Roxton or Water Valley.  San Augustine will play Mumford or El Paso Harmony.  White Oak would play Brock or East Chambers.  I had to check number of wins to break the tie for 3A.  Looks like Yates/Madison is a 50/50 chance which I hope doesnt happen.  I hope Roxton and Douglass dont have to play in the semifinals.  What matchups would you like to see or avoid in the semifinals?

1A-I
Water Valley - 2
Roxton - 4
Douglass - 6
Texline - 6

1A-I
Mumford - 0
El Paso Harmony - 3
Triple A - 5
San Augustine - 6

2A
White Oak - 1
Idalou - 3
Brock - 6
East Chambers - 9

3A
Wylie 34-4
Yates 31-4
Madison 30-4
Royal 29-9

Personally I want it to be WO vs EC and Brock vs Idalou so there could possibly be a state championship rematch of last year.

This is what I've heard will be the matchups for 1A-2A:

1A-II
Douglas vs Water Valley
Roxton vs Texline

1A-I
Mumford vs San Augustine
Triple A vs El Paso Harmony

2A
White Oak vs East Chambers
Brock vs Idalou

As a fan, I like these matchups.  Last year I didnt like how UIL put a few matchups.  If they dont put Yates and Madison together in the semis i'll be fine.  What do you think of the matchups?

You'd have to say that the east Texas teams all got a pretty good draw.

I think under normal circumstances Mumford and San Augustine would both have reason to curse their luck, but I guess this year both are just happy not to be playing Triple A.

Triple A is probably happy too. They only have to beat one of the two, and well, not to be all racist or anything, but c'mon, an El Paso charter? That's not scaring anyone, not even in 1A. Although I see on the UIL website that they got a 7'3" freshman. That's the only height they got, next tallest dude is listed at six foot on the nose, so for their sake I hope he's really, really good.

Honestly think the 1A pairings were to make sure that the championships were not an all charter school affair. No doubt in my mind that Mumford and SA are the 2 best public schools in the state in 1A just been nice to have that matchup on Saturday and not Thursday morning.
