Well it's basically February, and I'm bored and here is my predictions for how these districts finish up. I'll also add in my reg qtr match ups and reg tournament qualifiers
Either Big Sandy beats Martins Mill to knock them out of the tie for 1st, or LaPoynor beats em the 3rd time around.
Not a lot to say here, Cayuga beats Kerens in Kerens to clinch.
Can't get a read on this district, have not had eyes on any of their teams.
Grapeland is the class of the district, Lovelady can't break into top 3.
Don't be surprised if Wells forces a tie...they have 3 of the last 4 at home.
Joaquin has played well of late, but they slipped past Martinsville at home. I like Martinsville's chances at home this time around.
All that's left in my eyes is the order of the final 2. SA was very impressive in two road wins over these teams, and gets them both at home the 2nd go round. Zavalla was the only team who could upset the order, and they missed their shot in the first round having all 3 at home.
Not the strongest of districts. Big Sandy is head and shoulders above the rest.
Regional Quarter-Final match ups
Grapeland vs Cayuga
Big Sandy vs Tenaha
Kerens vs LaPoynor
San Augustine vs Broaddus
I think a lot of district champions will be here. I think the only two upsets will be Kerens over Mart and Broaddus over New Summerfield.
Cayuga vs Tenaha
LaPoynor vs San Augustine
Tough to pick the top half. Grapeland is very good, so is Big Sandy. But I think the match ups are what gets them beat. Cayuga has the size and numbers to defend Grapeland. Tenaha gets after you relentlessly on defense and I think that is what beats Big Sandy. I will say this, I won't be surprised if Big Sandy and Grapeland are there though. In the bottom, I think LaPoynor is just playing better ball right now. Also think San Augustine has been on and will continue to be on a roll.
Gonna be an exciting month of February that is for sure!
