I think tonights game is a must win for Douglass. They are one game behind and cant afford to fall back further.  I think Douglass will have to beat 3 out of the top 4 teams to at least tie for a playoff spot.  What do yall think?

Here is the updated standings as of friday nights games.  Oakwood has really separated themselves from the pack with a 2 game lead.  It would take nice run from one of the teams with 3 losses and a mini collapse from Oakwood for them to lose their district lead. You have a 4 way tie for 2nd in the loss column right now, with Laneville and Kennard each having a bye in the first 2 weeks of the 2nd half of district.  The big game tuesday night is Kennard @ Chireno.  I think considering the 4 way tie and there arent many games left, this game will be pivotal for both teams.  This is a must win for Chireno, who will be playing at home and against a Kennard team who is without a starter the rest of the season.  What do you guys think?

I think that one is gonna knock Kennard out...Laneville needs a win in the worst of ways Friday.  Otherwise, the best they can hope for is a tie for 3rd with Chireno...which I believe puts them in a play-in game (don't hold me to that).

Wow.  Only 3 games left and this thing is far from decided.  Oakwood has a 2 game lead but has not clinched 1st place yet.  If they were to lose to both Douglass and Chireno and one of them won out, they would hypothetically be tied for 1st.  So Oakwood is in, and if Douglass beats Oakwood they're for sure in.  I think even if they lost to Oakwood, 4 losses will at worst get you a playoff for the playoffs.  I think Chireno has to win 1 of those 2 games.  Laneville and Kennard I think have to win out and Kennard seems least likely to get it done with 2 road games while Laneville gets to finish out at home.  I think ultimately, the biggest game remaining on the schedule will be Chireno @ Laneville.  That could decide the 3rd playoff spot.  I think its also possible Oakwood could be playing Chireno on the last game of the season having 1st place locked up, and Chireno needing a win to make the playoffs.

It's a darn shame. Someone is going to be sitting at home with 7 wins in district. (that'd be 3 wins against a team ranked in the top 25 at some point).

Curious how the tie breaker would go down if Chireno can win out and get to 9 wins. Because by my not always good math that would put Chireno, oakwood and Douglass all at 9-3. And all three would have split with each other. Would it go to a play in style, or would they look at who the other loss was too? Meaning they compare records against next highest finisher all the way down the list.

A couple things happened tonight of significance.  Kennard basically was eliminated from contention with that loss.  Douglass pretty much clinched their playoff spot.  We'll have to wait to see how the rest of district plays out to see what they'll get.  They could get 1st or 2nd or have to playoff for first or 2nd.  Oakwood has to beat Kennard and Chireno to lock up the district title. If they lose 1, they'll likely at least have to playoff with Douglass since theyre done.  If Oakwood were to lose both games and Laneville were to beat Chireno, there would be a 3 way tie for 2nd with 3 teams with 4 losses.  If Chireno wins friday @ Laneville they would clinch and knock Laneville out.  If Chireno loses to Laneville friday, they will have to beat Oakwood on the last game of the season to force a playoff for 3rd with Laneville.  Laneville is in a must win situation friday.  If they lose to Chireno, they'll be eliminated and 3 playoff teams will be set.  Correct me if I am wrong on any of this.  Interesting stuff.
